Fracture Quantification in Naturally

چکیده
A collaborative effort between industry and government shows progress towards the goal of identifying productive natural fractures in gas reservoirs using seismic methods. Improved geological understanding of mature gas reservoirs in offshore Gulf of Mexico points towards unrecovered resource. A simple new technique to improve primary cement jobs has resulted in a 36 percent decrease in average remedial cementing costs for a group of Canadian gas wells. New Gas Technology Institute facility provides tools for understanding the dynamic behavior of gas hydrate. New solvent exceeds performance targets during test at Canadian sour gas treating facility. An improved model for gas storage caverns has revealed the potential for safely increasing storage capacity by accurately characterizing the plastic behavior of salt.

Investigation of Underground Gas Storage in a Partially Depleted Naturally Fractured Gas Reservoir
In this work, studies of underground gas storage (UGS) were performed on a partially depleted, naturally fractured gas reservoir through compositional simulation. Reservoir dynamic model was calibrated by history matching of about 20 years of researvoir production. Effects of fracture parameters, i.e. fracture shape factor, fracture permeability and porosity were studied. Results show...
متن کاملA Novel Integrated Approach to Modelling of Depletion-Induced Change in Full Permeability Tensor of Naturally Fractured Reservoirs
More than half of all hydrocarbon reservoirs are Naturally Fractured Reservoirs (NFRs), in which production forecasting is a complicated function of fluid flow in a fracture-matrix system. Modelling of fluid flow in NFRs is challenging due to formation heterogeneity and anisotropy. Stress sensitivity and depletion effect on already-complex reservoir permeability add to the sophistication. Horiz...
متن کاملInvestigating the Effects of Heterogeneity, Injection Rate, and Water Influx on GAGD EOR in Naturally Fractured Reservoirs
The gas-assisted gravity drainage (GAGD) process is designed and practiced based on gravity drainage idea and uses the advantage of density difference between injected CO2 and reservoir oil. In this work, one of Iran western oilfields was selected as a case study and a sector model was simulated based on its rock and fluid properties. The pressure of CO2 gas injection was close to the MMP of th...
متن کاملGeological Characterization Of Naturally Fractured Reservoirs Using Multiple Point Geostatistics
The spatial distribution of fractures in a reservoir affects the displacement of fluids and the prediction of future performance. Realistic characterization of fractured reservoirs requires quantification and classification of fracture patterns on the basis of the underlying geological characteristics and developing reservoir modeling algorithms that can integrate connectivity based (multiple p...
متن کاملEffect of Rock Fracture Filling on Mode I and II Fracture Toughness
This paper focuses on some fracture toughness tests performed on the pre-cracked Brazilian specimens of rock-like materials. Also the effect of rock fracture filling on the fracture toughness was considered experimentally. Fracture toughness is a key parameter for studying the crack propagation and fragmentation processes in rock structures. Fracture mechanics is an applicable tool to improve ...
